Making action accessible

Patagonia Action Works
STORY
From sippers to doers
Patagonia wanted to launch their Action Works platform in the UK with a targeted experience in the heart of East London.
We created a cafe to entice young professionals looking for a banging oat flat white, encouraging them to lend their time and skills to local and national climate organisations.
IDENTITY
Coffee with a cause
Enlisting Oli Frape to create a beautiful action window—and Climpson and Sons to create beautiful latte-art—the Action Works Cafe was a boutique coffee shop with a difference.
It was a place to join workshops, activities and pressure groups, or just sit back and chat with an activist.
OUTPUT
A wall of action
The experience centred around 32 individually illustrated Action Cards, each representing a different action you can take on behalf of a local, national or international environmental organisation.
Designed to be inviting and accessible, you could commit your time and skills on the spot, or simply take home your favourite cards—leaving a gentle reminder on your mantle or fridge to roll up your sleeves and get involved.
“The creative output was excellent and executed with great spirit. This makes a world of difference when engaging people around the more complicated challenges of our lifetime, and getting them motivated for action.”

Patagonia
Designed around an existing space, the experience accommodated people walking in off the street for a coffee, as well as workshops and get-togethers, and a library of activism at the back of the space.
If you could use some help converting hipsters into activists, or simply creating an engaging experience, let’s talk!
